    El seguro de emergencia médica de viaje ofrecido por la agencia gubernamental cubana ASISTUR S.A. y a través de CubaHeal Medical está limitado a la cobertura de emergencias médicas. El seguro de emergencia médica cubre los siguientes gastos:

    • Gastos médicos:
      • Gastos médico-quirúrgicos derivados de una enfermedad repentina o accidente ocurrido al asegurado
      • Dental: Gastos dentales debido a infección, dolor o trauma
      • Farmacéuticos
      • Gastos de hospitalización
      • Cubre atención urgente inicial para condiciones preexistentes
      • Gastos de alojamiento para un paciente y una persona acompañante, cuando el asegurado es un niño y/o una persona incapacitada
      • Gastos médicos para una asegurada embarazada que presente una emergencia médica, siempre que no haya negligencia
      • Gastos de convalecencia están cubiertos si el médico tratante prescribe reposo forzado por cinco o más días de hospitalización, con autorización previa del Centro de Alarmas de ASISTUR S.A. Esto también aplica a una persona acompañante si el asegurado es un niño y/o incapacitado, limitado a gastos de alojamiento
      • Gastos relacionados con COVID-19 están cubiertos
    • Repatriación y Transporte: Esto incluye:
      • El asegurador cubre el transporte del asegurado al hospital más cercano con las instalaciones necesarias. El medio de transporte será decidido por la Compañía de Asistencia en coordinación con el equipo médico
      • En caso de fallecimiento del asegurado, el asegurador cubre los arreglos y el transporte del cuerpo al lugar de origen del viaje
      • Si la hospitalización impide que el asegurado regrese en la fecha programada, el asegurador cubrirá la penalización por cambiar la fecha del billete de regreso
      • Si el asegurado, viajando solo, está hospitalizado por más de diez días, el asegurador cubrirá el costo de transportar a un familiar, proporcionando un billete de avión en clase económica, para acompañar al asegurado durante la hospitalización, siempre que todo el período de hospitalización esté dentro de la duración de la cobertura más siete días adicionales

    The travel emergency medical insurance varies according to the age. The daily premium for travelers 69 years old or younger is $10.00 USD per day, while the premium for travels above 69 is $12.00 per day.

    Are there any discounts available for groups or families?

    Yes, a 15% discount is offered to a group of 10 travelers and above.

    Are there any additional fees or hidden charges?

    There are no additional fees or hidden charges.

    Does the insurance cover lost luggage or personal belongings?

    The insurance services offered via CubaHeal Medical is strictly intended to cover medical expenses. It does not cover lost luggage or personal belongings

    What happens if my trip is canceled or interrupted?

    A full refund for the insurance payment will be made provided the following:

    1. Cancelation is due to interruption caused by either the country you are departing from, the Republic of Cuba, the departing airport or airliner.
    2. Provides evidence of valid medical insurance in Cuba. or
    3. Written denial of visa or visa extension

    Kindly be aware. It could take up to 5 business days for you to receive the refund.

    Is coverage available for adventure sports or high-risk activities?

    No, it does not. Below, please find the exclusions:

    • Services not requested from the insurer.
    • Treatments and medical checkups unrelated to the nature of the illness or injury.
    • Incidents caused by the insured or policyholder’s deliberate actions or by those traveling with the insured.
    • Pre-existing physical-mental disabilities and chronic conditions, except for urgent medical care.
    • Intentional ingestion or administration of toxins (drugs), alcoholism, or use of medications without a prescription.
    • Prosthetics, anatomical parts, orthopedic devices, hearing aids, and glasses.
    • Pregnancy, childbirth, and abortion, regardless of cause, except for emergency medical care, provided it is not due to negligence.
    • Special coffins and burial and ceremony expenses.
    • Incidents during war (declared or not), demonstrations, popular movements, terrorism, sabotage, and strikes.
    • Participation in dangerous competitions, training, tests, betting, and hazardous hobbies, except for athletes officially participating in competitions or training.
